Galerie Les filles du Calvaire

Art Paris 2017

Grand Palais, Paris

Private: Edouard Wolton

Du 30 mars au 02 avril 2017

Two years after his solo show at the gallery Les Filles du calvaire, French artist Edouard Wolton is presenting in Art Paris 2017 a collection of unseen works based on a floral theme. Following a study on the diversity of shapes and natural drawings that vegetables possess, Wolton unveils a language regarding colour and its perception. Two long series develop a dialogue between shape and colour to pull out from their subject all its abstraction potential. Inspired by botany’s scientific iconography, Wolton’s series of engravings (Portfolio de 15 alugraphies polychromes) goes beyond patterns using all of their formal and chromatic possibilities. On the other hand, his series of paintings (3 ensembles de 10 peintures) gives a more silent look on colour. The flower is slowly disappearing into a chromatic mist, where sheens of an iridescent painting erase its lines to reveal a polymorphic monochrome
