Zhuo Qi, born in 1985 in Fuxin, Liaoning Province, China, lives and works between France and China. In his artistic practice, he has invented and embraced the concept of the “poétif,” a creative approach that merges poetry and action to respond to the contradictions and uncertainties of the contemporary world. This term reflects his pursuit of an original artistic language and his deep exploration of materials.
His works encompass a wide range of materials, including ceramics, glass, metal, and paper. Through innovative experimentation, he transforms and reinvents these materials to reveal their cultural memory and hidden potential. The notion of the “poétif” thus becomes a way to navigate misunderstandings and differences, creating unexpected connections and unique artistic expressions. His creations revisit historical traditions while challenging conventional frameworks.
Zhuo Qi’s works, both humorous and poetic, embody a subtle balance between familiarity and strangeness. By reconciling apparent contradictions, he invites the viewer to adopt a fresh perspective, grounded in the “poétif.” Through his constant challenges to materials and forms, he reinvents our perception of the world and offers a deeply transformative artistic experience.
