Thierry Fontaine France, b. 1969

"It questions ethnic and social identity, isolation, the difficulty of relating to others."

Thierry Fontaine is an author of photographic works originating from Reunion island. He imagines his pictures by observing around him the movements of the social models according to the places where he is. The movements of these models cause meetings and new contacts. The crossings which result from it become intermingled until give interbreedings. These contacts alter the established models, generate questioning. Improbable, opposing meetings, made possible by the artist, from situations that he creates with model characters, of prepared scenes, sculptures and specially made objects, organized exactly in a chosen context. He stages them and photographs them.
