Levi van Veluw Netherlands, b. 1985

The artist explores the modes of seduction inherent in the visual and formal vocabulary of sacred representations.

Levi van Veluw was born in 1985 in Hoevelaken, the Netherlands, and studied at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. Since graduating in 2007, he has produced multidisciplinary works that include scenographic installations, photography, film, sculpture, painting, and drawing.

A contemporary Dutch artist, Levi van Veluw lives and works in Amsterdam. He quickly established himself as a major figure in multidisciplinary art, blending installation, sculpture, drawing, photography, and film. His immersive and dreamlike work often draws on childhood memories to evoke universal emotions and probe human logic. Van Veluw is particularly known for his spectacular installations, such as fictional cathedrals or dark sensory spaces, where visitors lose their usual spatial bearings. His creations explore the boundary between memory, perception, and reality, while questioning the pursuit of perfection and artistic obsession.

Levi van Veluw continues to innovate, combining autobiography, spirituality, and sensory experience to create worlds that are at once poetic and disorienting. His work has been shown internationally in prestigious institutions, including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art, and Ars Electronica in Linz, and has received numerous awards, including Photographer of the Year at the IPA International Photo Awards.
