PRIX PICTET: The gallery Les filles du calvaire welcomes for the first time the Prix Pictet.

13 - 27 November 2010 17 rue des Filles du Calvaire 75003 Paris

The gallery Les filles du calvaire welcomes for the first time the Prix Pictet.

The Prix Pictet is the world's first photography award dedicated to sustainable development. Launched in 2008 by Geneva-based private bank Pictet & Cie, the Prix Pictet has quickly established itself as the benchmark award in the fields of photography and sustainability. Its goal is unique: to use the power of photography to address the most pressing social and environmental challenges of the new millennium.

As Kofi Annan, Honorary President of the Prix Pictet, writes in his preface to Earth, the book dedicated to the 2009 edition of the Prix Pictet, "Together, the photographs of the Prix Pictet's shortlisted artists highlight the beauty of the planet we inhabit. But they also show us the damage we are inflicting on our environment, whether deliberately or simply through carelessness. These images are as much a celebration as they are a wake-up call about the urgent need to change our ways."

The Prize is aimed at a potential audience of more than 400 million viewers. The exhibition of works selected for the first two editions have traveled the world, and have already been exhibited in Paris, Thessaloniki, Dubai, Hong Kong, Eindhoven, Bonn, London, Geneva, Dublin, Moscow, Berlin, Madrid and Milan.
