For the past fifteen years, Makiko Furuichi, trained both in Japan and in France, has been developing a body of work where color spills beyond the traditional frame of the canvas.
Subtly, her inks and hybrid forms, half plant, half animal, spread across walls, ceramics, textiles, and even a kayak or a hang glider. Her universe is inhabited by Yōkai, the grimacing Japanese spirits, carrying us into a personal mythology. For the space in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, the artist has created a world at the threshold between the living and the dead, immersing the viewer completely.
